Ignition Coils For 2005 Ford Escape

The 2005 Ford Escape uses wither 4 or 6 ignition coils. This depends on whether you have the 2.4 or the 3.0L V6 in your Ford Escape. These ignition coils are mounted right over each spark plug and deliver the spark to the spark plug. When these fail, then tend to fail within a short period of time from one another. This usually happens when the coils are nearing or beyond the 7 year old mark. If you shop at your local auto dealer, or get a quote from your local auto shop (Yikes!) this job can run from $300 (parts only) all the way to $1,000 with mark ups. In reality, the parts themselves are not very expensive. Many places mark them up (understandably) to make a profit. We are here to save you money when it comes to this. We're not talking about a $20 savings. We're talking several hundreds of dollars on the same or better quality parts. We do this buy purchasing anywhere from 500 and up every single time we buy. This allows us to get them at a true wholesale price, and pass the savings on to you. We are selective when sourcing a manufacturing factory to make our parts. We use the best manufacturers that pay attention to quality control. On top of this, we offer a lifetime warranty which is good for as long as you own your 2005 Ford Escape.

Replacing Ignition Coils in Your 2005 Ford Escape

The first thing anybody who takes a look underneath the hood may be intimidated by the intake manifold covering the back three coils. We have a write-up to help you figure out what is needed to get your Escape running great again. Remember that the intake manifold is designed to be easily removed for service, so this is not a big undertaking. In fact, this is quite simple. All you need is a little time to remove the manifold, and you will have full access to the three firewall side ignition coils. We have heard some auto shops and dealerships mention that the PCM is the reason why the coils fail prematurely in the first place. We have heard many mechanics say the same thing about the PCM. We recommend at least checking the PCM to make sure it is operating properly. While most cases will not have a bad PCM, this happens more often with the 2005 Escape than other vehicles, so it is worth checking to save yourself from doing the job all over again. Check out our how-to section to find out more about this service.

Finding a misfire with an OBDII scanner

If you have an OBDII scanner, you will be able to easily identify which ignition coils are giving you problems. Even better, you can identify if you even have a bad ignition coil, or another part causing your issue. If you don't own an OBDII scanner, get yourself one. You will never regret the $20 spent. You can find them online for under $20 also.
