Why Every Household With a Car needs an OBDII Scanner

At some point in time, we all experience a check engine light on our vehicle, and we wonder why it is on. We are in the technology age, and it's time we all start arming ourselvs with a simple car diagnostic tool called the OBD II scanner. OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics. The OBDII Scanner is an incredible easy to use vehicle diagnostic tool that can be obtained for as little as $10 for entry level scanners. An OBD II scanner will tell you why the check engine light is on by giving you a code such as P0301, P0420, P0324, etc. The US Gonvernment required all vehicles 1996 and newer to share the same diagnostic codes, allowing a single scanner the ability to diagnose all vehicles.

Q: I don't work on my car. I don't even know anything about cars. Why should I get an OBD II scanner?

A: You don't need to know anything about cars to be able to use an OBD II scanner. The OBD II scanner usually plugs into a port located in an easily accessible location underneath the dashboard of most vehicles. When your check engine light is on, you simply plug it in and it spits out a code. Simply search up the code on the internet (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc), and you will find an array of information telling you what the problem can potentiallty be.This can arm you with knowledge before walking into a mechanic shop to determine if they are telling you the truth or not. If it is something simple like a code P0442, which can come up if you simply forget to tighten your gas cap, you can simply tighten the gas cap, and reset the check engine light. This can save thousands of people from taking a day off and taking a trip to the mechanic or dealer to find out that the problem takes seconds to fix. So whether you own or lease your vehicle, an OBDII scanner is a great benefit. On top of all of this, you can find cheap bluetooth based OBD II scanners with android or I phone apps for your phone for the price of a cup of coffee.  We have many customers who work on their vehicles without this device and are not sure if they are solving the correct problem of not. Replacing the wrong parts can add up really fast, which is why we recommend this device to everybody. These literally save everybody a TON of money.
