2011 Ford Crown Victoria Ignition Coil

Ignition Coils For 2011 Ford Crown Victoria

2011 was the last year Ford built the Crown Victoria in the United States. As like the rest of the previous years, the regular model, and police interceptor both used the same engine and same ignition coil packs. Yes, there were many other changed such as the intake manifold, alternator, etc, but they still shared the same exact coil packs. Many of our customers ask if they need to use a high performance/high output ignition coil in their police interceptor, and the simple straight forward answer is no. The stock DG508 ignition coils were plenty sufficient to handle the police interceptor. If you chose to modify your 2011 Crown Victoria with substantial mods like a supercharger, then high output ignition coils are necessary. For all others, the stock ignition coil is more than what you need. If the coils in your 2011 Crown Vic are 7 years old, or original, and one fails, it's best to replace all 8. We have the full set of 8 ignition coils at prices that most local stores can not even think of getting near. We also offer a 2.5g packet of silicone dielectric grease to help with installation and keep moisture out. The dielectric grease if meant to aid in keeping moisture away from the coil and spark plugs.

2011 Ford Crown Victoria Misfire Symptoms

If your 2011 Ford Crown Victoria is misfiring, you will notice that the engine runs very rough while under a load (accelerating, towing, uphill driving, etc) but feels much better while cruising. Many describe this feeling as surging, hiccupping, or missing. You will also (but not always) get a check engine light if the misfire is heavy and constant enough. If the misfire is bad enough, you will get a flashing check engine light. This means that you must solve the issue immediately to prevent damage to other components. While you can drive a short period of time on a bad misfire, we don't recommend driving several months in your misfiring Crown Victoria. We have heard stories of many owners driving several months with no other components damaged, but we don't recommend this. If you can feel the misfire, but there is no check engine light, don't worry. This issue is common with the 2011 Crown Victorias, and there is a way to find them without breaking a sweat. For this, you will need an OBDII scanner with Mode 6 Capabilities. These start at about $50 online, and will save you a whole lot more money. Trust us. Any shop performing a simple Mode 6 scan will charge you more than $100 to do this. Many shops are also not aware that Ford vehicles have this mode, and they will go into further complicated and unnecessarily complicated diagnostic testing, which can cost upwards of $500 or more! Check out our how-to section to learn how to use Mode 6 in your 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, or you can check out our Youtube Video on how to find a misfire with no check engine light. This will certainly save you $100 or more in figuring out the issue with your 2011 Crown Victoria.
