Coil packs for 2008 Crown Victoria

2008 Ford Crown Victoria Ignition Coils

If you own a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, then you either own an Ex-police interceptor, a taxi cab, or another fleet vehicle. The vast majority of the 2008 Crown Victoria models were sold as fleet vehicles. Only around 5% of Crown Victorias were sold as regular non fleet vehicles. The one thing that all of the 2008 Crown Victorias had in common was they used the same 2v 4.6L V8. They all used the DG508 ignition coils. These coils for your 2008 Crown Victoria have an angled rubber boot, unlike the ignition coils for the 3v Ford engines of this year. If your Crown Victoria is misfiring, the cause is usually the ignition coils. Of course this isn't the only reason your Crown Victoria will misfire, but it's the most common reason. When the coils are over 7 years old, it's best to replace all 8 at the same time, especially if one failed. The problem is how much these cost. Many of our customers have reported seeing prices ranging from $40 all the way to $100 for each coil. These are just insane prices. At Araparts, we have single ignition coils for a lot cheaper, and we also have full sets of 8 for just the price on 1 local store coils. We do this by purchasing several thousand coils at once. This allows us to get the same quality coils at a much better price.

Cost of Ignition Coil Replacement in 2008 Ford Crown Victoria

The cost of replacing a single ignition coil at an auto shop is usually an average of $150.  Remember this is just for the replacement. This doesn't even include the diagnostic which can run up to $100. You can save a TON of money by doing this job yourself, and we are going to help you do it. If you can do basic auto maintenance, you can replace the coils. Instead of spending $100 on the coil and $50 - $100 on labor costs, you can replace all 8 for under $100. All you need is basic tools. A 7 mm socket for the coil bolt, and long extensions to allow you to reach the coil. A swivel socket can also help too, but it's not needed. For th diagnostic, get yourself an OBDII scanner. These cost under $10 online. For the price of a cup of coffee, you can find out exactly why your check engine light is on.

"But my 08' Crown Vic has a misfire and no check engine light"

We have a solution for that too. Get yourself an OBDII scanner with Mode 6 capabilities. These start at around $50 online, and trust us. This will save you so much money on diagnosing the problem. Not even all mechanics know how to deal with Mode 6. The PCM records all misfires, even if it doesn't turn the check engine light on. With a Mode 6 Scanner, you can see exactly which cylinders misfired, and how many times too. pretty cool right? Now guess how much a shop will charge you to do this type of diagnostic...Makes that $50 sound pretty nice, doesn't it? Our owner David Aragon actually did a full video on how to use Mode 6 in your Ford (works for the 2008 Crown Victoria too).
