Ignition Coil For 2000 Ford Crown Victoria and P71 Crown Victoria

2000 Ford Crown Victoria Ignition Coils

Yes, we have ignition coils for your 2000 Ford crown Victoria, and we might even have 2,000 in stock! Don't get too comfortable as these can sell very fast. The 2000 Crown Victoria comes with the 4.6L V8, and uses 8 DG508 Ignition coils. This also includes the P71 Police interceptor as well. The coils between the regular Crown Vic and the Police interceptor as exactly the same. If these coils are over 7 years old, and one fails it's always recommended to replace all 8 at the same time. Remember, ignition coils are like headlights. They tend to fails at the same time once they are old. You might be able to get away with replacing one ignition coil if the others are newer, but this is not the case for most vehicles. Replacing all 8 coil packs is cheaper regardless of where you get your coils from. Of course at Araparts, you will save even more money over the brick and mortar retailers. The cylinder numbers in your 2000 Ford Crown Victoria is from left to right, and front to back. So standing right in front facing your Crown Vic, the left hand side from front to back is 1,2,3,4 and the right hand side is 5,6,7,8. We also included an image of the Crown Victoria cylinder numbers to make things easier.

2000 Crown Victoria Ignition Coil Install

The ignition coils in the 2000 Crown Victoria (P71 and CVPI also) are not too difficult to install. We will start with the tools needed:

7mm socket.

At least an 8 inch extension.

Flathead screwdriver ( to remove intake tube from throttle body)

5/8 Inch spark plug socket.

Swivel socket - not needed, but it makes things easier.

The ignition coils are readily accessible. The fuel rail does NOT need to be removed in order to remove the coil packs. Once unbolted, you can scoot the ignition coils over and pull them right out. You will need to remove the intake tube from the throttle body. If the boots get stuck inside, don't worry. The boots easily slide on and off of the coils. This can be prevented by pulling the coil from the rubber boot instead of the plastic coil pack head. If you have access to compressed air, you may want to blow off any debris lingering around the ignition coils, and into the spark plug wells.

One thing we recommend is if you have a bad ignition coil connector, DO NOT USE RTV inside of them. Well, technically you can, but don't ever expect the connector to come off in one piece if you decide to service the vehicle at another time. We have seen mechanics use RTV to hold and seal damaged harness connectors, and the connectors will not come off unless you break it. If you have damaged coil connectors on your 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, just buy a replacement connector. We will have them available soon for those needing to save money, but to be honest they aren't that expensive from the dealer unless you plan on buying all 8 connectors and splicing them into the engine harness.
