Ignition Coil for 2005 Saab 9-3

Ignition Coils for 2005 Saab 9-3

The 2005 Saab 9-3 uses individual ignition coils rather than a single cassette like many other Saab models. These kind of ignition coils are also called coil on plugs or COPS. When one coil fails, it is best to replace the rest. The coils have the ICM (ignition coil module) built into them, meaning that if the ICM isn't giving out the right signal, the check engine light will be on. Other aftermarket ignition coils have ICMs that do not give out the right signal. In these types of cases, you will get a check engine light, but no misfire. Our ignition coils are fine tuned to work in the Saab 9-3 without any issue.

Replacing all 4 coils in your 2005 Saab 9-3

When the original coils start to fail, it is recommended to replace all 4 at the same time. This is because when one fails, the others began to fail not long after. Most cases it is months apart, and in some cases it can be days or even a couple of weeks apart from each other. If you replaced the coils recently, then you can get away with changing one. Replacing all 4 at the same time will also allow you to save money on the bundle of coils and time by not having to go in more than once to do the job. We have the full set of 4 for a very reasonable price. Many Saab owners are concerned with aftermarket ignition coils not working well, but ours are designed to work exactly like the OEM coils. Not to mention, our coils for your 2005 Saab 9-3 come with a lifetime warranty, good for as long as you own your vehicle.

Symptoms of a bad ignition coil in your 2005 Saab 9-3

Before we begin to mention the symptoms of a bad ignition coil, we want to mention something important with diagnosing a bad coil for this particular vehicle. Many common OBDII error codes are p0301 (Cylinder # 1) through P0304 (Cylinder # 4). In this  vehicle, a bad ignition coil can also throw a P0351, P0352, P0353, and P0354 in addition to the other misfire codes. It can show one or the other. If your coil has a bad ICM (built into each coil) but is not misfiring, you will get one of the Ignition coil circuit codes and a check engine light. The problem in this case is usually simply a bad ignition coil rather than the circuit. Don't rule out an issue with the circuit, but most likely it is a bad ignition coil. Other vehicles will not show an open circuit code for a bad ignition coils because other manufacturers don't build the ICM into the ignition coil.
