2008 Nissan Murano Ignition Coil

Ignition Coils For 2008 Nissan Murano

The 2008 Murano uses 6 individual coil on plugs. They are called coil on plug , or COP because each ignition coils literally sits right over the spark plug. These coils can wear, or fail, and need replacing. We have the full set of 6 ignition coils at very low prices, not because we skimp on quality, but because we order such a large amount that we are able to get these ignition coils at true warehouse prices and pass on the savings to our customers. On top of this, we are very confident in the quality of our products and we offer a lifetime warranty which is good for as long as you own your 2008 Nissan Murano. The ignition coils in the 2008 Murano are not part of the vehicle maintenance list, but they can still fail depending on a number of factors. While there is not a certain mileage owners see these fail, these do fail as they age and there are a number of factors that can speed this up. The number one reason is old spark plugs. The gap on worn out spark plugs increases which raises the resistance causing the coil pack to work a lot harder and burn out sooner. Replacing your spark plugs at the proper replacement interval may prevent this. If your valve cover gaskets are leaking oil into the spark plug holes, this is an obvious reason. These are not designed to run in a pool of oil. If you see oil in the spark plug wells, clean it out, and replace the valve cover gaskets to prevent the new ignition coil from failing again for this reason. The other reason is more specific to the 2008 Murano. These 3.5L V6 Nissans had an issue with the main ground cable breaking off much sooner than expected causing the coils to appear burnt, scorched or melted. This can also damage the ECU as well causing all sorts of problems. To avoid a headache, check that the ECU is properly operating if the ground cable is broken. The last reasons is moisture and humidity. Improperly washing the engine of your 2008 Murano and not covering the coils will certainly damage them. If you live in a humid state, the ignition coils will not last as long as someone who lives in Arizona for example, so don't worry if you experience an earlier ignition coil failure than someone who lives in a dry region. Humid regions have other advantages over dry regions. Rubber undercarriage parts will last longer in humid regions for example.

Diagnosing a Misfire in Your 2008 Nissan Murano

To find the problem, grab yourself a cheap OBDII scanner at any online retailer. We plan on offering these in the future, so check our website to see if we have any. You can scan your check engine light to see why it's on. If it gives you a misfire code, you can then locate the ignition coil on that cylinder and swap it over to another cylinder to see if the misfire code follows the ignition coil or stay in the same location. If you are not sure what the cylinder locations are, you can check out our cylinder diagram for the 2008 Nissan Murano 3.5L V6.
