2007 Nissan Murano Ignition Coil

Ignition Coils For 2007 Nissan Murano

The 2007 Nissan Murano uses 6 ignition coils. As these coils age, they can fail and will have to be replaced. Many Murano owners have noticed that when these coils are old, and one fails, the other ones start failing not long after the first one. Ignition coils wear in the same environment, in the same car at the same time. It's no wonder old ignition coils start to fail within the same time (usually months apart or less). While these may be expensive at your local auto parts store, we have them for much less. We buy several thousand of these ignition coils at once, and sell them directly on our website. This allows us to get the best warehouse price, and pass the savings on to you. There are a number of reasons why the ignition coils in your 2007 Murano can fail. Bad valve cover gaskets leaking oil into the spark plug holes, bad grounds (especially the main ground), worn out spark plugs. As spark plugs wear, the gap increases which increases the resistance and forces the ignition coils to work harder and burn out sooner. The main ground is a cable that goes from the negative terminal on the battery and grounds on the transmission. This cable is known to tear off causing the ignition coils to literally melt, and the ECU to take on damage as well. It's important to make sure that this ground cable is intact and the contact points are clean. If you see the ignition coils appear to be scorched, or melted in any sort of way, then you have a grounding issue. DO NOT install new ignition coils if the cable is damaged or significantly rusted.

Symptoms Of A Misfire In Your 2007 Nissan Murano 3.5L V6

First thing that will be obvious is a rough shaky running engine. Acceleration will be weak and the check engine light may be on or flashing. To find out the issue with the misfire, you will use a basic $20 OBDII scanner to find the misfire.  Common misfire codes are:

P0300 (Random Misfire)

P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire)

P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire)

P0303 (Cylinder 3 Misfire)

P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire)

P0305 (Cylinder 5 Misfire)

P0306 (Cylinder 6 Misfire)

If you are not sure of the location of each cylinder, you can check this chart out:

2007 Nissan Murano Cylinder Numbers

Cylinder number 1,3, and 5 are located underneath the intake manifold. This can easily be removed with just 10mm and 12mm sockets and an extension. Just remove the hoses and anything else attached to it. You can even check out our how-to article on how to do this. Once you've located the location of the misfire, move the ignition coil to another cylinder and rest the ECU. Resetting the ECU prevents a false reading, allowing the computer to identify the new misfire location. If the misfire is now on another cylinder, then you will know that the ignition coils are the problem and need to be replaced. If the misfire stays on the same cylinder, then it can be another issue.
