If your 2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6 (VQ35) has been misfiring, it may have a bad ignition coil. There are a number or reasons why an ignition coil can fail in the Maxima, but one common reason is a bad main ground. It's imperative to check this cable before starting any work as many owners have reported a plethora of electrical issues (including melted ignition coils) after this cable breaks. If everything checks out and you're ready to replace the bad coils, then continue on to find out just how much money you can save on replacing the coil packs.

Ignition Coil Replacement For 2007 Nissan Maxima

If your 2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6 is running rough, hiccupping, or feels like it is chugging along, then it may have a bad ignition coil. A bad ignition coil can cause these misfire symptoms. Common OBDII error codes for a misfire are P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and P0306. P0300 is a random misfire. Each of these codes represents cylinders 1 through 6. Also, for the 2007 Maxima 3.5L V6 we strongly recommend to check the grounds. Especially the main ground. This is the big cable the connects to the negative post on the battery, then to the body of the car, and then on the transmission/gearbox. This cable was a common fault of these Maximas and should be checked and replaced if there is any significant corrosion. If this main ground breaks, the electricity usually uses the ignition coils or the ECU as a ground, causing a variety of electrical problems. We include a lifetime warrant on the ignition coils we offer for the 2007 Nissan Maxima, which is good for as long as you own your vehicle. We also include a 2.5g packet of silicone dielectric grease, and we allow a full 2 months to return any unused item with zero restocking fees, because we understand that misdiagnosis happens from time to time. We're all humans after all.

2007 Nissan Maxima Ignition Coil Replacement

The front three ignition coils are in direct view as soon as you open the hood. Replacing these is extremely easy. It's the three ignition coils underneath the intake manifold/plenum that everybody wants to know how to change. It's actually much easier to do that you would think as the intake manifold is designed to be easily removed for spark plug replacement. The main tools you need are 10mm and 12mm sockets and a ratchet with a long extension. The plastic engine cover is easily removed with a T30 Torx driver. Allen keys will work, but be careful to not round out the screw. As soon as the intake manifold is removed, you will have full access to the three rear ignition coils. Besides the easy of replacing the ignition coils, you will need to make sure that you check the grounds before doing this job. Especially the main ground as many 2007 Maxima owners have had this break causing all sorts of electrical issues with the ECM/ECU and melted ignition coils. If you replace the ignition coil packs with a damaged ground cable, the new ignition coil packs will fail very shortly, if not as soon as you start your maxima, so make sure to check all grounds before replacing these parts. Our goal at Araparts is not to just save you money on the parts themselves, but on the entire job from diagnostic to repair, and all the in between things to watch for like a bad ground. If you don't own an OBDII scanner, you can find them at many online retailers for under $20.
