Ignition Coils For 2009 Mitsubishi Galant

If you are here because of the prices at your local auto parts store, you've come to the right place. Our aftermarket ignition coils for your Galant are the same (or better) quality than what you would find at a brick and mortar auto parts store. Not to mention they come with a lifetime warranty, good for as long as you own your Mitsubishi Galant. We have full sets of coil packs to help you save money. We recommend replacing all of the ignition coils in your Galant if they are at or past the 7 year old mark. This seems unreasonable to many people mainly because of how much these things cost at the local auto parts store. Replacing old ignition coil packs in sets is always much cheaper than changing one at a time. Besides the time you will spend re-diagnosing it, you will always save money on the bundle of coils. Changing these coils is always a straight forward job. Each coil pack is held on with one bolt.

Signs of a Bad Ignition Coil in a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant

If you are experiencing a big lack of power when accelerating, but smooth cruising once you are up to speed, this is a telltale sign that your engine is misfiring. When you put the engine under a load, it will stumble and hesitate until you reach a cruising speed, and feel like it is running well, even if it is misfiring. You may be able to still feel the misfire while cruising, but not as much as you would during acceleration. If the ignition coil is not completely dead, you may experience an occasional misfire, but not all the times. This happens because the epoxy (the black glass looking material on the top of the coil) can have small hairline cracks that expand and shrink as the engine warms up. The cracks can even change if you run your car harder, heating it up more than usual. If you have a check engine light, this is a good thing. Why? Because one the check engine light comes on, you are able to use an OBDII scanner to find out what the issue is. For a misfire, you will usually see a code like:

P0300 (Random misfire)

P0301 (Cyl #1 misfire)
P0302 (Cyl #2 misfire)
P0303 (Cyl #3 misfire)
P0304 (Cyl #4 misfire)
P0305 (Cyl #5 misfire)
P0306 (Cyl #6 misfire)

Once you are able to identify which cylinder the misfire is coming from, you can now swap that coil over to another cylinder to see if the misfire code follows the coil. This will help you identify if your problem is actually an ignition coil, or something else. Make sure to check out our how-to section to find out what is required for this job. You may be surprised to find out how simple this job is.

If you still need help in finding the right ignition coils for your 2009 Mitsubishi Galant, feel free to reach out to us and we will be happy to guide you to the right parts, and save you money!
