Ignition Coils For 2008 Mitsubishi Galant

The 2008 Mitsubishi Galant has a coil on plug type setup. This means that there is one ignition coils for each spark plug. When these coil packs begin to fail, it's best to replace all of them, especially if they are at or past the 7 year old mark. These coils can be quite expensive when purchasing locally. We have seen them priced at $50-$60 for EACH coil pack. Replacing these ignition coils should not cost this much, and that's what Araparts is here to solve. We have full sets of ignition coils for your 2008 Mitsubishi Galant at prices that are hard to pass up. Not to mention, we also include a lifetime warranty which is good for as long as you own your Galant. A frequently asked question we get is "why are your coil packs so cheap? Are they low quality?" Not at all. We are able to get these coils priced so low by purchasing several hundred to several thousand and selling directly to our customers. This allows us to get the same quality part, at a much lower price. The local auto parts store usually purchases just a few coils to keep on hand, paying a much higher price for them. Coil failure is not an abnormal problem. In fact, for the 2008 Galant, this seems to be a common issue that is easily resolved. Check out our how-to section to find out what's required for this job.

Why Did The Coil Packs in My Mitsubishi Galant Fail

While ignition coils do not have a lifespan, there are many different factors that cause them to go bad. The biggest factor is climate. Water and moisture are the enemy if ignition coils. Those who live in humid climates will end up needing to replace the ignition coils in their Galant much sooner than someone who lives in a dry climate. Another reason why they fail is old or worn out spark plugs. You would have to drive tens of thousands of miles past the replacement time for this to happen, but many owners forget about maintenance and this happens quite often. As the spark plug wears down, the gap increases. Spark plugs with a gap too large will force the ignition coil to work harder. This also includes new spark plugs that are not properly gapped. While most spark plugs are pre-gapped, it's a good idea to make sure that they have the proper gap.

Symptoms of a Bad Ignition Coil in a 2008 Galant

If you have a bad ignition coil, you will definitely feel the engine misfire. The severity and frequency of the misfire will depend on if the coil is completely dead or in the early stages of failure. If the coil is in the early stages of failure, you may notice a misfire occasionally while accelerating, or putting the engine under any kind of load (uphill driving, etc). Once the misfire occurs enough, the check engine light with come on giving you a code to help you identify which cylinder is misfiring, thus narrowing it down. We recommend swapping the coil to another cylinder to see if the misfire follows the coil. If it does, then you will know for sure that you have a bad ignition coil. If the misfire remains on the same cylinder, then it may be a different issue. Don't worry though, this process of elimination will help you to eventually pinpoint the cause of the misfire.
