Ignition Coils For 2006 Mitsubishi Galant

If your 2006 Galant is misfiring, you are at the right place. A misfire is typically caused by a bad ignition coil, but we are here to help you find the problem, and save you money on the parts. All 2006 Mitsubishi Galants have the coil on plug setup. This means that each ignition coil sits right over each spark plug. The 4 Cyl Galant has 4 coil packs and the V6 Galant has 6 coil packs. Replacing these can be costly is you buy them at the local auto parts store. We have seen prices range from $40-$60 and up for EACH ignition coil. We have entire sets of quality ignition coils at prices that are reasonable. Not to mention we offer a lifetime warranty on these as well. Each ignition coil is held on with 1 bolt, making the replacement job fairly simple. Check out our how-to section to learn what is required to do this type of job.

Replacing All Coils in Your 2006 Mitsubishi Galant

A common question we get asked all the time is "do I really have to replace all of the coils instead of just the bad one?". The short answer is no. If you want to fix the problem for right now, changing the bad coil will do just that. However, keep in mind that when these coils are around the 7 year old mark, and one fails, the others are usually not far behind. Single coils are actually more expensive than buying the full set, both online and even at local stores. And by cheaper, we are not talking about $20, or even $50, we're talking about over $100 in many cases. The full set of ignition coils is much cheaper, and if the other coils are going to fail anyways, why not just change them all, and save time and money? So in most cases, changing all of the coils is necessary if you want to save time and money.

Common Symptoms of a Bad Coil Pack in Your 2006 Galant

A misfiring engine is a telltale sign of a bad coil pack. This usually feels like the car is chugging along as you drive it. You will notice acceleration may be very weak, but once getting the car up to speed, it will cruise just fine. If the ignition coil is not operating at all, you will feel the misfire at all times. When there is a misfire, you will also get a check engine light showing a code P0300 (Random) P0301 (Cyl #1 misfire) through P0306 (Cyl #6 misfire). You can scan the check engine light using any basic OBDII scanner. These devices can be purchased online for under $10 for a basic scanner. We have even seen Bluetooth scanners for your smartphone for as little as $3! There is no longer an excuse for not owning one of these devices. An auto shop will charge you $50-$100 just to do this many times. Even if you don't know anything about auto repair, you can scan the check engine light, and google the code, so you have at least a basic understanding of what might be wrong BEFORE walking into the shop. This way there are no surprises when taking your Galant in to get fixed. This alone is golden.
