2008 Mercury Mariner Ignition Coil

2008 Mercury Mariner Ignition Coil Packs

The 2008 Mercury Mariner comes with a 2.3L and 3.0L engine. Ignition coil replacement is common, but finding a quality low cost set of ignition coils is not easy. Some places may have cheap coils, but if they fail in a couple of months, then it makes the saved money pointless. We have high quality aftermarket ignition coils for your 2008 Mercury Mariner, and to top if off, they come with a lifetime warranty which is good for as long as you own your vehicle. This warranty covers the coils themselves and the shipping back and fourth. Replacing all of the ignition coils is necessary if they are old (usually around the 7 year mark or older). This is because all of the coil packs are usually installed at the same time, and operate in the same exact conditions. When one fails, the rest are not too far behind. Other factors can cause ignition coils to fail sooner such as regional weather. If you live in a humid environment, the ignition coils in your Mercury Mariner are not going to last as long as someone who owns the same Mariner in a dry environment. Other reasons why ignition coils can fail in your 2008 Mercury Mariner are spark plugs with too large of a gap, bad PCM (common problem in the 3.0 V6 Mariners), coolant leaks, and improperly washing the engine bay..

Misfire Diagnosis For 2008 Mercury Mariner

To start things off, you will need an OBDII scanner. Basic ones can be found for under $20 at many online retailers. If your check engine light is on, plug your OBDII scanner in to find out why the light is on. If you have a misfire, you will see a code ranging from P0301 through P0306. The last number represents the cylinder location of the misfire. For the 2.3L 4cyl the cylinders are numbered from left to right 1 to 4. Number 1 is closest to the belt, and for the 3.0L V6 it goes from back to front, left to right, 1,2,3,4,5,6. If that doesn't make sense, you can always view the diagrams provided in the links. Once you identify the misfire, you can swap the ignition coil from the misfiring cylinder over to another cylinder. reset the PCM computer and drive your Mercury Mariner until the check engine light comes back on. Rescan the PCM for codes. If the code follows the ignition coil that was moved, then you know for sure that that ignition coil is faulty. This method will help you save that $100 diagnostic money the shop wants to charge, and prevent "throwing parts" to solve the issue. This can get expensive, and who want to replace a part that is functioning perfectly? If you do purchase ignition coils, then later realize that the coils were not the issue with your Mariner, then we allow a full 2 months from the time the package shows up to return them for a full refund without a restocking fee.
