Ignition Coil for 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis

2005 Mercury Grand Marquis Ignition Coil Packs

The 2005 Grand Marquis requires 8 individual coil on plugs. One of the many original parts numbers (there are more than 20!) is DG508. DG508 is the most commonly used to describe the ignition coils in the 2v 4.6L V8 that comes in the 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. It is a very common situation to have to deal with a bad ignition coil. Anybody who has owned one of these is well aware of the coil on plug problems. They might also be aware of the high cost of these. Many places will charge from $50 all the way to $100 for each ignition coil. At Araparts, we have high quality aftermarket ignition coils, built to the same specs as the original equipment coils at a deeply discounted price. We don't do this by butting quality. We do this by purchasing a very large amount, usually thousands, and cutting the middle man out by offering them directly to our customers. It is a common question about the quality of our products. It wouldn't be a bad idea to assume that they are just bad quality, but this is far from the truth. There are many bad quality coil on plugs out there for the Grand Marquis that will give you more headaches down the road. There are also many companies who offer a lifetime warranty, and don't stand behind them. They will make it so difficult that you won't even want to bother with warranty exchange. not here at Araparts. Our lifetime warranty we include on our aftermarket DG508 coil packs are good for as long as you own your '05 Grand Marquis, and we pay for all shipping back and fourth.

2005 Grand Marquis Misfiring

There are a number of reasons why your Grand Marquis can misfire, but  the most common reason is a bad ignition coil. Not don't just go out and throw some coil packs at the problem. You want to make sure that it is a bad ignition coil because there are many other reasons why it can misfire. First things first, scan the PCM with your OBDII scanner. If you don't own one of these, then you are missing out! These run under $20 at many online retailers. if your Grand Marquis is misfiring AND has a check engine light on, this is the perfect time to scan the PCM computer for codes. If your Grand Marquis DOES NOT have a check engine light on, but you still feel a misfire, there is still a way to scan for misfire (yes, you read that right). The PCM computer in your 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis records ALL misfires. If it does not misfire a certain number of times, then it will not turn on a check engine light. This is extremely frustrating for many owners as you cannot use a basic OBDII scanner to find these misfires. You need an OBDII scanner with Mode 6. Now before you exit out of this page, we want to remind you that a mode 6 scanner compared to any BASIC diagnostic will be much cheaper. You can find mode 6 OBDII scanners starting at around $50 online, whereas a standard diagnostic average is $100. To learn how to do the mode 6 scan, check out our Ford how-to section. The link for this diagnostic is right on the top. You can't miss it. This just might save you a lot of money.
