2000 Mercury Grand Marquis Ignition Coil

2000 Mercury Grand Marquis Ignition Coil Packs

The 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis uses 8 DG508 ignition coils that need to be replaced at the same time. It uses the same engine as the Crown Victoria. The only difference is that the Grand Marquis has a bit more luxury bells and whistles. This is especially true if the coils are around 7 years old or older. All 2000 Grand Marquis cars used a 2v 4.6L V8. Replacing the ignition coils at your local store can be very costly at around $60 per ignition coil average. We have the full set of 8 ignition coils that are the same or better quality than the ones at the local store for much less. Many times just the price of one ignition coil. We don't do this by cutting down on quality. We do this by increasing our order size. When we purchase these coil packs, we get them at real wholesale prices and pass these savings on to you. Araparts holds true to the reputation we have earned over the years. We also offer a lifetime warranty on the ignition coil packs that we offer. To remove the ignition coils in your 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, you will need a rag to remove debris from around the coil (to prevent debris from falling in) and a 7mm socket to remove the bolt. New ignition coils in your 2000 Grand Marquis will restore performance and fuel economy. Many owners note an increase in performance immediately after installing new ignition coils.

How To Tell if Your 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis Has a Bad Ignition Coil Pack

A rough running engine and a check engine light are just a few very obvious signs that something is wrong. A check engine light on is a good thing however as you are able to plug in a $10-$20 OBDII scanner and find out exactly why it is on. Typical misfire codes are P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, and P0308. The last number represents the cylinder number of the misfire. Once you find out which cylinder the misfire is coming from, you can swap the ignition coil over to another cylinder. Drive the vehicle for a little bit to allow the computer time to register the new misfire location and rescan the computer. If the misfire code follows the ignition coil that was moved, then you will know for sure what is causing problems with your 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. This method will prevent you from trying to solve the problem by throwing parts at it and hoping that the problem will go away. If your Grand Marquis does not have a check engine light, but you can still feel a misfire, you can still find these misfires quite easily. You will need a more advanced OBDII scanner tool. The Mercury PCM computer records every single misfire, but will not always turn on the check engine light if it determines the misfire to not be enough. For many owners however, it cans till misfire heavily without turning on the check engine light. Check out our guide to learn exactly how to do this.
