1999 Mercury Grand Marquis Ignition Coil

1999 Mercury Grand Marquis Ignition Coil Packs

The 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis uses only one engine: a 2 valve 4.6L V8. This engine uses independent ignition coil on plugs. Many people also refer to these are coil packs, ignition coils or "COPS" (coil on plug system). As they age and began to fail, it's best to replace all 8 at the same time. We have the full set of 8 quality aftermarket ignition coils for a price that will blow you away. We purchase these ignition coils for your Grand Marquis in high volume and sell directly to you. This cuts the warehouse distributors out and also cuts the price down by quite a bit. Not to mention, you get the same quality aftermarket part that you have been looking for. On top of all of this, we include a lifetime warranty on the DG508 ignition coils for your 1998 Grand Marquis. The warranty covers the coils themselves, and the shipping back and fourth. We do this because we know our ignition coils are built to the same standards as the original equipment parts.  The ignition coils in the 1999 Mercury are held on by a 7mm bolt. Before removing the ignition coils, make sure to remove the debris that usually collects around them. If this debris is not removed, then you can possibly drop it into the spark plug wells and into the cylinder during your next tune-up (or if you are changing the spark plugs at the same time).

1999 Mercury Grand Marquis Misfire Symptoms & Diagnosis

If your '99 Grand Marquis is misfiring, then you may have a bad ignition coil as ignition coils are the most common reason for the 1999 Grand Marquis 4.6L to misfire. You may or may not have a check engine light on if you are experiencing a misfire. A lot of times, you may notice your Grand Marquis misfires a lot harder while you are trying to accelerate, and it may feel smooth while at a cruising speed. If you have an ignition coil pack that is completely faulty, then it will misfire all the time. You will feel the misfire at idle, while accelerating and while cruising. This will normally cause the check engine light (service engine soon) to turn on. Once the check engine light is on, it's easy to diagnose as you can simply plug any OBDII scanner in to find out why the light is on. If there is no check engine light, you can still find out why the engine is misfiring by using a more advanced OBDII scanner with Mode 6. These typically start at around $50 online and up. This is a small price to pay for this type of diagnostic. Many place will charge a minimum of $100 just to take a look at your Grand Marquis. If they are not familiar with Power balance or Mode 6 (advanced tools dealers mainly use) then that may just be throwing parts to solve the problem, which can be very costly. Check out our how-to section to see articles and videos on how to use Mode 6 (Ford, Lincoln, & Mercury misfire & no check engine light).
