2006

The 2006 Mazda Tribute uses individual ignition Coils. The 3.0L V6 uses 6, and the 2.3L uses 4. These coils are easy to change (yes, even the ones underneath the intake manifold on the V6). Check out our how-to section to find out. If you're ready to check our ignition coils out, select the engine in your 2006 Mazda Tribute to find out your savings on this repair!

Ignition Coil for 2006 Mazda Tribute 3.0L V6  Ignition Coils For 2006 Mazda Tribute 2.3L L4

2006 Mazda Tribute Ignition Coil Packs

The 2006 Mazda Tribute remained virtually unchanged from the 2005 model when it comes to the ignition system. This year continued to use the coil on plug system and both 2.3L and 3.0L engines used the coil on plug design. Some of these also still suffered from the PCM issues where the PCM damages the ignition coils. many owners ended yup replacing all six ignition coil packs and the PCM at the same time to resolve the issue. While we only sell the ignition coils, we can recommend great places that rebuilt your PCM at a great price. Of course all 4 or 6 ignition coils can be quite costly as well as they run from $40 all the way up to $80 for aftermarket ignition coils. Our aftermarket ignition coils are built to perform just like the OEM Motorcraft ignition coils, but for much less. We understand with the cost of everything around us rising that there has to be some type of relief. On top of our incredible prices, we also include a free lifetime warranty which is good for as long as you own your 2006 Mazda Tribute. We also include a 2.5g packet of dielectric grease which helps to prevent moisture from damaging the spark plug and ignition coil.

Reasons why an ignition coil will fail in your 2006 Mazda Tribute

For the 3.0L V6 the PCM is one reason. This doesn't happen every time a coil pack fails, but it happens more frequently with this Mazda unfortunately. Other generic reasons (for both 2.3 and 3.0) why you can have a coil failure is if you live in a very humid city or state. Humidity is the enemy of any electric part, especially ignition coils. Ignition coils do not have a known estimated life span, but humidity will certainly shorten the life of them without a doubt. Improperly washing the engine bay, and coolant leaking can also cause damage to the ignition coils. A typical misfire code is P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and P0306. While the ignition coils are a number one reason for a misfire in your 2006 Mazda Tribute, there are other reasons. You can find out for sure by swapping the coil packs from the supposed misfiring cylinder over to another cylinder. Let the engine run a little bit before scanning to give it some time to register the new misfire location. Other reasons for a misfire are bad PCM, fuel injectors, worn or faulty spark plugs (yes, spark plugs do fail - the porcelain can crack), bad cam or crank sensors or issues with wiring. Worst case scenario for a misfire would be internal cylinder damage. This can be discovered using a compression or leak down test.

If you are still not convinced, take a look at some of the companies offer a lifetime warranty and see how long they have been in business. Some of them are on third party marketplaces and just joined a couple of months ago with a generic name. We have a long time reputation going back to 2006. Purchase ignition coils from a trusted online brand.
