Ignition Coils For 1999 Lexus ES300

 Important information for 1999 ES300 owners before proceeding:

The 1999 Lexus ES300 3.0L V6 (1MZFE) has a VVTI version, and a non VVTI version for the 1999 model year. Both of these engines are a 3.0L V6.  If you are here looking for ignition coils, you might want to pay attention closely, because these engines use two different type of ignition coils, even though they are almost identical engines. The VVTI engine has "VVT-I" in red letters on the plastic engine cover. The non VVTI does not have these letters.

If you are familiar with what ignition coils look like, the non VVTI motor will have a spark plug wire attached to each ignition coil. This motor only requires three (3) ignition coils. The VVT-I motor will not have spark plug wires attached to them, and uses six (6) individual coils. Make sure to check this as this is important to getting the right parts for your 99' ES300. 

Replacing these ignition coils may seem intimidating. Especially when it comes to the three coils that are on the back of the engine. This job doesn't have to be too hard. All you need is a good swivel socket when changing the rear coils/spark plugs. They can be reached without having to remove the intake manifold.
