2005

The 2005 Honda Pilot uses the ignition coil on plug design for its 3.5L V6 where there is one ignition coil for every spark plug. These ignition coils are basically miniature power transformers and can fail as they age, or as they are subjected to worn out spark plugs, or improper engine bay washing. If you live in a humid environment, you may need to replace the ignition coil packs sooner than someone who lives in a dry region. New coils are pricey, and we're here to solve this problem. We're not just here to sell you some auto parts. We want to earn your business with excellent customer service, and save you money on not just the parts, but on the entire process from diagnostic to repair.

2005 Honda Pilot Ignition Coil

2005 Honda Pilot Ignition Coil Packs

If you have been experiencing misfire issues in your 2005 Honda Pilot, you've come to the right place for not just the parts, but for help as well. There are a few things..well just one that frustrates most 2005 Honda Pilot owners, and that is the ECU does not always identify which cylinder the misfire is coming from. Instead it will show a misfire code for all 6 cylinders. We know this isn't possible because if all 6 cylinders were misfiring, the engine wouldn't stay on. The first thing we would do is reset the ECU and wait until the check engine light comes back on. This gives the computer another chance the re-read the issue. If you still get a misfire on all cylinders, we would recommend doing the spark test. You remove the spark plug and ignition coil from each cylinder. While they are both out of the engine, put the spark plug back in the ignition coil, plug the ignition coil back in and touch the spark plug tip to a good ground. Have a friend crank the engine and you will be able to see the spark. Do not touch the spark plug during these moments as you can get injured. The other way to do this is with a spark tester. With these, you remove the ignition coil, but not the spark plug. The last method is by unplugging the connector from the ignition coil. If the engine idle gets worse, then the ignition coil is good. If there is no change, then the ignition coil is bad. You have to listen closely because many times the changes can be very subtle.

2005 Honda Pilot Misfire Symptoms

The feeling of a misfire in your 2005 Honda Pilot can be concerning. It can make your Pilot run rough while the engine is under a load (aka acceleration or towing). Many times the check engine light will turn on allowing you to scan the problem with any basic OBDII scanner. If it turns out to be a faulty ignition coil, you will realize quickly that ignition coils for your Honda Pilot are quite expensive at the dealership and the local auto parts store. We are here to solve this problem. We offer high quality aftermarket ignition coils for prices that will shock you. We don't sacrifice quality, but instead we order large volume, allowing us to get the same parts for a much lower price.
