2008

The 2008 F150 uses three different type of ignition coils, If you own a 4.6L V8 2008 F150, then it'll be easy. You'll need the DG508 coils.  If you own a 5.4L V8 2008 F150, there are 2 different types of ignition coils used. DG511, and DG521. They are almost identical except DG521 rubber boots are brown in color and a little bit longer to accommodate the spark plug design change. We recommend to physically look at the ignition coils under the hood as the front coils are easy to see. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. We want to make sure you get the right parts.

Ignition Coils for 2008 Ford F150

The 2008 Ford F150 uses 8 individual ignition coils. It is important to select the engine your F150 has. The 4.6L V8 uses the DG508 ignition coils, while the 5.4L V8 uses DG511 or DG521 - 0n the next screen, there will be more information on how to identify which ignition coil you need. The 2008 F150 has 8 individual ignition coils. When these are original or more than 7 years old and they begin to fail, they tend to fail not far apart from each other. It is best to replace all 8 ignition coils at the same time to save time and money on the bundle of ignition coils. We have even heard some owners report original coils failing within days of each other. If you replaced your ignition coils recently, and you have one fail, you can get away with replacing just one coil pack.

Ignition coils for your F150 without breaking the bank

If you're wondering why the coils we offer cost so much less than the ignition coils from the local auto parts store, then you're not alone. This is our most frequently asked question. We are able to do this by purchasing several thousand coils, just for the 2008 F150. This allows us to sell directly to you, our customer for a lot less than the local auto part store, who may purchase 8 at a time at the very most. The quality is the same as the pricier coils, and we even offer a lifetime warranty against defects, which is good for as long as you own your 2008 F150.

Diagnosing a bad ignition coil in a 2008 F150

If your '08 F150 has been misfiring, there is a way to find out how without breaking the bank. if a check engine light is on, you can use a basic OBDII scanner to scan for check engine light codes. P0301 is a misfire on cylinder #1 and P0308 is a misfire on cylinder #8. Standing in front of the vehicle, on the left hand side the cylinders are 1,2,3,4 (front to back) and on the right hand side 5,6,7,8 (front to back). If there is a misfire on Cylinder #2 for example, you can swap the #2 and #1 coil and reset the computer. Drive your truck until the check engine light comes on again and re-scan. If the misfire code follows the ignition coil, then you will know it is the ignition coil. If the misfire stays on the same cylinder, then the problem may be something else. This is a sure way to tell if you have a bad ignition coil without throwing parts at your F150.
