2004 Ford Expedition Coil Packs

2004 was the last year for the first generation (UN93) Ford Expedition. To answer the most common questions we get in the ignition coil category: Yes, the 4,6L V8 and the 5.4L V8 share the exact same ignition coils. They are interchangeable. The DG508 coil is what was used in the 2004 Expedition. Like the image above, you will notice a sligh angle in the rubber boot, unlike the other coils used in the other Ford trucks and SUVs. The DG508 coil is a hot topic on many of the Expedition Forums. Many owners argue about which ones to use, and which ones to avoid. In reality it is very difficult to tell which ones are going to last and which ones will not. Of course Motorcraft is the best to use, but the problem is many shops and dealers charge nearly $90 per coil. We work diligently to provide ignition coils at the lowest price, but while maintaining exceptional quality. The result is that we are not the cheapest, but still cheap enough to shock many people, and make them skeptical of the price we offer our ignition coils at. We have a 10 year history (as of 2017) offering quality ignition coils. The only place you can get these ignition coils on is on our website. Not Ebay or Amazon. The coils on those networks do not come from Araparts.com, and are therefore not the same. We offer lifetime warranty, and work hard to make sure every single customer is well taken care of. Our warranty covers the shipping back and fourth as well, and it is good for a long as you own your 2004 Expedition.

2004 Ford Expedition Ignition Coil Pack Life Span

There is no life span for the ignition coils. No manufacturer includes these parts in the maintenance schedule, but they do fail. Many people recommend to replace them every 100,000 miles. We say this is unnecessary unless there is something wrong. The only way we would recommend replacing the coils in your 2004 Expedition is if one has failed, or is in the process of failing. When they are all old (usually 7 years or older) they tend to fail within a short period of time from each other. We do recommend to inspect the boots as these coils age. If the boot is cut, you can simply replace the boot, but to be honest, you might as well just replace the coil pack considering how low cost they are. If you live in a humid region, you may also notice that you are replacing your coil packs a lot sooner than someone who is in a dry region. Humidity is literally the enemy of these electric parts and drastically shortens the life of them. Also water from the wiper cowl can cause damage to the back coils packs, so make sure that there is no water leaking past the wiper cowl while it is raining, or while you are washing your 2004 Expedition.
