2004 Ford Excursion Ignition Coil Packs

If you own a 2004 Ford Excursion, you will have a bad ignition coil at some point. This is a very common problem with these SUVs, and because the coil packs are in high demand, many local places will charge high prices for these. We typically see $40 all the way up to $100 for each ignition coil. Whether you have a V8 or V10 Ford Excursion, this is simply too much for most people to afford. We offer the full set of 8 ignition coils for prices that are incredible. Not only do we help you save money on the ignition coils themselves, we also want you to save money on the entire process from the diagnostic to the repair. We offer lots of valuable information on finding a misfire, and cool tips and tricks like using mode 6 on the 2004 Excursion. We also include a 2.5 g dielectric grease packet. This helps to keep moisture away from the spark plugs and coils, and it helps to make removal easier.

Misfire Diagnosis For 2004 Ford Excursion

The 2004 Ford Excursion has 2 different types of misfires. Consistent, and occasional. If you have a consistent heavy misfire, and a check engine light is on, then it's easy to find with any basic $10 OBDII scanner. You simply plug the scanner in, and you get a code telling you which cylinder is misfiring. From here, you can simply swap the coil from the misfiring cylinder over to another cylinder to check if it is actually the ignition coil. If the code follows the coil, then you know for sure what is causing the misfire. If the misfire only happens occasionally (mainly when engine is under load) then it may be harder to find. A lot of the times, the check engine light is not on, making it difficult to find the misfire. In this case, if you have even a basic mechanical ability, you will be able to find out what's going on. Grab a OBDII scanner with Mode 6. Mode 6 allows you to see what the PCM computer sees, even if there is no check engine light. The PCM records all misfires, and will not turn on the check engine light if it doesn't think the problem is that bad. Check out our guide and video on how to use Mode 6.
