Ignition Coil Packs For 2007 Ford Escape

The 2007 Escape uses the independent ignition coil over plugs. Most modern vehicles like the 2007 Escape switched from the old spark plug wire design to the ignition coil design. While this helps make the 2007 Ford Escape more fuel efficient, it costs more to maintain. When these coils are around the 7 year old mark, and one fails, it's likely the others are not far behind. This is why we, and many mechanics recommend replacing old ignition coils in sets when they start to fail. This creates another problem however. Each ignition coil at the local auto parts store or dealer can run from $50 each and up. Yes, you will need 4 coils for the 2.3l 4 Cyl and 6 coils for the 3.0l V6 Escape. This is simply out of many people's budget, and we wanted to do something about this. We were able to buy large quantities of coil packs, allowing us to get them for an incredible deal, and pass these savings on to our customers. Not only do we sell ignition coils, we also help you save money every step of the way. From diagnosing the problem, to the how to article or video. We just want you to save money, because that is what we strive to do every single day.

Replacing Coil on Plugs for 2007 Ford Escape

The 2007 Ford Escape 2.3l 4 Cyl coil pack replacement is very straight forward. The 2.3 Hybrid is exactly the same type of job as the non hybrid Escape. The 4 ignition coils are right on the top and can be easily removed and replaced. For the 3.0l V6, the front 3 ignition coils are easy to change. The back 3 coils are underneath the intake manifold, meaning the intake manifold must be removed in order to replace them. Don't get too intimidated just yet. If you have even mechanical skills, you can remove the intake manifold without much problem. Keep in mind that the intake manifold is designed to be removed for spark plug servicing without much work involved. Check out our how-to section to find out what is required on this job.

What a Misfire Feels Like in Your 2007 Ford Escape

Common symptoms of a misfire are a rough running engine during acceleration, but it seems to run smoothly while cruising. If you have a service engine light on as well, this makes it very easy to diagnose what is going on. All you need to do is plug in an OBDII scanner, and it will give you a universal code like P0301 (Example). This means that cylinder number 1 is misfiring. With this knowledge you can figure out if you have a bad ignition coil or not by simply swapping the coil to another cylinder. Reset the computer with the scanner or by unplugging the battery, then drive your Escape until the service engine light comes back on. If the misfire code follows the coil to the cylinder you moved it to, then you will know that you have a bad coil pack for sure. If the code stays on the same cylinder, then you may have another issue. Good news is that you just narrowed down your problem
