2003

Your 2003 Acura TL 3.2L V6 uses 6 ignition coil on plugs. Many people still call these coil packs, and so do we. If the ignition coil packs in your Acura TL are not operating properly, you will get a misfire, and a rough running engine. Getting this repaired doesn't have to be as pricey as you may have seen. We have single ignition coil packs and the entire set of 6 with a 2.5g packet of silicone dielectric grease to help keep moisture away and make future removal easier for spark plug replacement. Continue on to find out how much money you can save on this fix for your 2003 Acura TL.

2003 Acura TL Ignition Coils

Ignition Coils For 2003 Acura TL

The 2003 Acura TL was the last of the second generation. The ignition coil on plugs remained unchanged for this model year. Many still refer to these as coil packs. The spark plug gap for the 2003 3.2L Acura TL engine is 0.044, which is important to note as many owners install the wrong spark plugs that cause the coil packs to fail prematurely. If the gap is too large, the ignition coil will be more stressed, and fail sooner than expected. While many spark plugs are pre-gapped, you want to make sure that the tip doesn't have any damage or appear to be bent in any way (usually during transit). If the set up is just fine, but you still have an ignition coil fail, then you will want to try to determine the age of the rest of the ignition coils. If they appear to be original, or you are unsure of the age, then it's best to replace all 6 coil packs at the same time. Getting all 6 replaced can get expensive really fast. We have seen price for these range from $70 all the way up to $120 for each one. This can be a little bit too much for many people, so we worked on bringing these to you for much cheaper. Keep in mind that we didn't sacrifice the quality of these parts in order to do this. We just raised our order quantity to get that special pricing that allows us to pass these savings on to our customers. When you get a check engine light in your 2003 Acura TL, you are going to want to use a basic OBDII scanner to find out why it's on. Typical misfire codes range from P0300 (random) through P0306 (cylinder number 6). You can simply switch a suspected bad ignition coil over to a cylinder that is not misfiring to find out if the coil pack is bad or not. If it is bad, then the misfire code will follow the ignition coil. To prevent a false reading, we recommend to reset the ECU. This allows it enough time to identify the new misfire location.

2003 Acura TL Ignition Coil Pack Replacement

Replacing the ignition coils in the 2003 Acura TL is actually a very easy process. It should take a beginner no longer than 30 minutes as the front three ignition coils are right in view. They are behind the plastic trim, and the rear three ignition coils can also be easily accessed despite appearing difficult to change. All you have to do is stand on the passenger's side of the car to access the rear coil packs, and replacing them will be no different than the front. The ignition coils in the 2003 Acura TL 3.2L V6 come off with a basic household Allen wrench (that most people have lying around the house). If you wish to save money on this type of repair, continue on to find out exactly how much you can save.
