2006 AcuraMDX Ignition Coil

Ignition Coil Replacement For 2006 Acura MDX

2006 was the last year of the first generation MDX. Like the previous models, it used the 3.5l V6 engine and 6 individual ignition coils. Each ignition coil sits right over the spark plugs. The front three ignition coils are right underneath the plastic covering, and the rear three ignition coils are underneath the IMRC (intake manifold runner control) which is very easily removes with two 10mm bolts. Once this is removed, all three of the rear ignition coils are now exposed and can be replaced with a basic Allen key. The road block that many MDX owners run into is the ignition coils can cost $70 to $120 for each one, which makes replacing all 6 quite pricey. We offer a full set of 6 ignition coils that are the same quality as the aftermarket coils you would see at the local auto parts store. Since we purchase several hundred, and even up to a thousand of these ignition coils at a time (just for the MDX!) which allows us to ge a real warehouse price, and pass this savings along to our customers. We also offer a lifetime warranty, which is good for as long as you own your 2006 Acura MDX. We also cover all shipping costs back and fourth as well. Plus, if you accidentally order parts that you later find out your MDX never needed, we allow a full 2 months to return them, and we charge no restocking fees. We want our customers to feel secure when purchasing ignition coils from us.

Misfire Symptoms in the 2006 Acura MDX

If your 2006 Acura MDX is misfiring, the first thing that you will notice is that the engine will run rough while it's under a load (acceleration or towing). Weak ignition coils will not produce a strong enough spark to withstand these extra requirements from your engine. If the ignition coil is completely non operational, you will be able to feel the misfire while the engine is idling. A basic OBDII scanner will let you know which cylinder is misfiring. If you notice that a misfire code comes up for all 6 cylinders, then the problem must be diagnosed another way. The 2006 MDX was known to show multiple misfires, even if just one cylinder is misfiring. When this happens, the first thing to try is resetting the ECU with your OBDII scanner of by disconnecting the battery for at least one minute. This forces the ECU to read the problem properly. If it still shows all cylinders misfiring, then try disconnecting the wire harness from the ignition coil while the engine is idling and listen for a change. The change can be very subtle, so listen carefully. This will only work if the ignition coil is completely dead. Our goal at Araparts is to save you money, which is why we offer so much advice on diagnosing, and fixing your Acura MDX. We don't want to just save you money on parts. We want to save you time and money on the entire experience from diagnosis to repair.
