Ignition Coils For Land Rover LR3

 

The Land Rover LR3 uses 8 independent ignition coils. Each ignition coil controls its own cylinder. If one of these coils go bad, this can cause a misfire, or "hiccuping" feel in the engine. Common engine light codes for a bad coil are (but not always) P0300 (random) P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, and P0308. An easy way to find out if the problem is the coil, and not another issue is to swap the bad coil with the cylinder next to it, reset the computer, driver the LR3 for a bit, and re-scan. If the code follows the coil, it is the coil for sure. If they are all nearing 10 years old, it is recommended to replace all 8 at once.
