More information about these:
Motorcraft SP479 is primarily used with the 2v 5.4L V8 in Ford and Lincoln models. These also fit Mazdas and the Jaguar S and X type as well. For the Ford & Lincoln 5.4L V8s, these had a problem blowing out of the cylinder head due to not enough torque recommended. The recommended torque for these by the manufacturer was 12 ft/lbs originally. This was not enough, and allowed the spark plugs to back out a little bit until there was just a few threads holding on, then they would blow out of the cylinder causing a very loud pop and a nasty sounding noise. We recommend a little more torqure if you own a 5.4L V8 Ford or Lincoln. At least 18 ft/lbs should be sufficient.
