Along side the year/make/model compatibility chart, Gm trucks and SUVs use 2 different style coils. Delphi (round) style and Melco (square) style. The best way to find out is to physically look at them on the vehicle. These coils should have the number 19005218 stamped on the metal, or should look similar to the ones in the images. These round coils have aluminum fins (heatsink) that looks like a small radiator. The square coils don't have the heatsink.

More information:

Ignition coils for your 1999-2006 (& some 2007) GM vehicles.

GM trucks and SUVs were manufactured with 2 different style ignition coils. The round "Delphi" and the square "Melco" style coils. The best way to find out which type of coil your GM  truck or SUV uses is to open the hood and physically look at the coils. The ignition coils listed are for the Delphi, or "round style". They should have the number "19005218" stamped of the steel casing. If there are no numbers, you can take a look at the detailed images provided, and compare them. These round style coils usually are round in shape like a cylinder, and have an aluminum heatsink that looks like a miniature radiator.

Q: What does "Classic" mean?

A: "Classic" is used to identify the 2007 model year Chevrolet and GMC trucks that used the previous (1999-2006) body style.

An ignition coil (also referred to as coil pack, coil on plug/COP, coil over plug)  is a crucial part of your ignition system in your GM vehicle. Ignition coil is a miniature power transformer, which converts the 12v in your vehicle electrical system into tens of thousands of volts. Many times 20,000 or more. This will send the voltage to the spark plug, and ignite the fuel. Ignition coils wear out over time. Over the years, high and low temperatures, humidity, and even bad grounds and electrical problems can cause igntion coils to fail, or not perform at full capacity. This can cause a misfire, also referred to as hiccups or surging. Because the ignition coils wear in the same envirenment, it is usually best to replace old ignition coils all at the same time, and save money or time on labor. Other causes are washing the engine bay. and rain. On some of the E-vans, it is known that water from the wiper cowl leaks onto the rear coils. The GM round style ignition coils are a commonly replaced item as they age.

Checking vehicle grounds, wiring, and other components such as the vehicle computer (also referred to as the PCM, ECU, or ECM) can also prevent repeated failure of ignition coils and save hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in repairs.

Why are your parts so cheap?

What makes us very different from your local auto parts store and dealership is volume. We are a small company, but whatever item we carry, we carry hundreds, or even thousands of. This allows us to get that same quality auto part as your local aftermarket auto part store, but at a fraction of their prices.
