2005 Ford F250 Ignition Coil Packs

The ignition coils in the 2005 Ford F250 are different than the previous years. The 2005 F250 uses the DG511 ignition coils. This was the first year Ford introduced the 3 valve head in the F250. Along with the head change, the ignition coil type changed as well. The difference between these coil packs and the older ones are that the rubber boots on these are straight down. The coil packs for the older F250s have an angled rubber boot. When one of these ignition coils fails, it's best to replace all of them at the same time. This is definitely true if the coils are several years old. We usually say the 7 year mark is old enough to warrant changing all of the coil packs at the same time. This goes for both the V8 and V10 engines used in your truck. The only problem with changing all of the coils at the same time is that they are very expensive at the local stores.

2005 Ford F250 Ignition Coil Cost

The 2005 Ford F250 ignition coils usually run about $50 to $100 at the local auto parts store. This is not a price that most of us can afford. And the ones who can would prefer not to spend upwards of $1,000 on ignition coils. We have the full set of 8 and 10 coils for prices that are almost the cost of one of the local store coil packs. This doesn't mean that the quality of Araparts ignition coils is poor. We get the same quality coil packs that you would find at your local store for much less by purchasing thousands at a time. Yes, this means that we carry over 1,000 DG511 coils in stock for your 2005 F250. This allows us to get these parts at special wholesale prices. Instead of selling to the auto parts store, we sell directly to you. We cut out the middle man to allow our customers to get a quality product at a low price.

How To Find a Misfire in Your 2005 Ford F250

The PCM in the 2005 Ford F250 records all misfires. This means that when you feel a misfire, and you don't have a check engine light on, the PCM recorded it and with a Mode 6 Scanner, you will be able to view these misfires. If the service engine/check engine light is on, then it will be easy to find out which cylinder is misfiring. A basic OBDII scanner can pull up the misfire codes (P0301, P0302, etc). From there, you can find out which cylinder is misfiring, and swap the coil from the misfiring cylinder to another cylinder. Reset, run the engine and re-scan to see if the misfire code followed the ignition coil. If it did, then you know for sure that you have a bad coil pack. If the misfire doesn't move, then there is another problem such as a bad fuel injector, spark plug, sensor, or mechanical issue.
