2011 Ford E-150 Van Ignition Coil

2011 Ford E-150 Ignition Coils

If the Ignition Coils in your 2001 Ford E-150 have been causing you issues, it may be the ignition coils. These are known to fail over time, and these can cost from $40 all the way up to $100. As these ignition coils start to fail, it's best to replace all 8 at the same time. There are cases where you can replace just one coil. This is when the coils aren't very old, when an outside source damages a coil (water, coolant, oil), a spark plug blow out, which is common with the 2v 4.6L V8 and 2v 5.4L V8 motors in the Ford E-150 vans. Changing out all 8 coils with local ignition coil prices is simply just unreasonable for most people considering these things run from $40 each all the way up to $100, and even more in some cases. We have a full set of 8 quality aftermarket ignition coils for just the price of one of the local auto parts store prices. We do this by purchasing several thousand coils at once to get a real wholesale price, and pass the savings on to our customers.

2011 Ford E-150 Misfire Under Load

This is a common issue with the 2v fold engines of this time period. These engines can develop a full out misfire, which is very easy to find, but often times they only get an occasional misfire. The occasional misfires drive E-150 owners crazy because they don't happen all the time, and your regular ignition coil testing will not work to pinpoint this type of misfire in your 2011 Ford E-150. There is one easy low cost way to find these occasional misfires, and it's not by taking it to a shop. It's by getting ahold of an OBDII scanner with Mode 6 capabilities. You see, the PCM computer in your 2011 Ford E-150 records all misfires, even if the check engine light isn't on. With a Mode 6 OBDII scanner, you can pull up these misfires so you can be on your way to fixing the issue. These type of scanners start at around $50 online for the cheaper ones, and they are worth their cost ten times over. These scanners will pay for themselves when you don't have to take your E-150 van to the mechanic or dealership every time there is a check engine light, or a problem without a check engine light. Check out our guide for finding misfires without a check engine light for a Ford vehicle.

2011 Ford E-150 Ignition Coil Replacement

Replacing ignition coils in your 2011 Ford E-150 is not a very difficult task, despite how hard it looks. You may have to stretch a little bit on the passenger's side bank, but once you get the interior engine service cover off, you have full access to the ignition coils. The driver's side bank is straight forward, and the passenger's side bank is easy, but you have to scoot some heater and PCV hoses out of the way.
