The 2008 Ford E-150 van uses 8 individual DG508 ignition coil on plugs. These are also called coil packs or simply just ignition coils. If one fails, and the rest are around 7-10 years old, or original, it's recommended to replace all 8. We have the full set of 8 quality ignition coils for your 2008 Ford E-150. We also have lots of cool how-to information on diagnosing a misfire on your E-150 Van.

Ignition Coils For 2008 Ford E-150 Van

The 2008 For E-150 uses individual coil on plugs. It has an interior service cover to gain easy access to the back ignition coils. As these ignition coil packs age, and one fails, it's best to change all 8. This is mainly because old ignition coils tend to fail within a short time from each other. The 2008 Ford E-150 uses 2 different V8 engines; a 2 valve 4.6L and a 2 valve 5.4L V8. These engines share the exact same DG508 ignition coil. We have the full set of 8 ignition coils for the price of just 1 coil from the local auto parts stores. We don't do this by cutting the quality of the coil. We do this by purchasing several thousand ignition coils at once. This allows us to get these wholesale and offer these at an incredible price. We also offer a lifetime warranty, which is good for as long as you own your 2008 Ford E-150. Many E-150 owners are scared of doing a tune up because the rear cylinders are so far back underneath the hood. What many people forget is that there is a service compartment inside the van that you can remove. This allows the rear cylinders to be easily accessed. We will get into diagnosing a misfire in a little bit.

Replacing The Rear Ignition Coils in Your 2008 Ford E-150

This is a question amongst many people who own these is "how hard is it to replace the rear ignition coils on my 2008 E-150?". The answer is not too difficult. The engine service cover comes off by undoing the floor clips. The driver's side bank is fairly easy to replace. We recommend removing the fuel injector connectors as it is pretty easy to get your hand or tools caught on one of them. The passenger's side bank is also easy, but you will be moving some heater and PCV hoses out of the way in order to gain access to the ignition coils. To remove the ignition coils, you will need a 7mm socket and different length extensions. We also recommend a magnet just incase you drop any tools into your Ford E-150's engine bay. If you are not sure if you have a bad ignition coil, you can diagnose the issue with any basic OBDII scanner. These only work if you have a check engine light on, and they will tell you what is going on with a code (P0301, P0302, etc). If you do not have a check engine light, you will need a Mode 6 OBDII scanner. Test ID for the 2008 Ford E-150 van is $81. These will be able to find any subtle misfires that do not set off the check engine light. The PCM (main computer) records all misfires, but does not turn on the check engine light if the misfire does not occur all the time. A basic OBDII scanner starts at under $10 online, and a Mode 6 OBDII scanner starts at around $50 online. These tools will save you several hundred to several thousand dollars over time.
