2006 Ford E150 Ignition Coil

2006 Ford E150 Ignition Coils

The 2006 Ford E150 van uses a small 2v 4.6L V8 and a larger 2v 5.4L V8. These engines both share the same exact DG508 ignition coils. These coil packs have curved rubber boots. It's important to understand this as this was one of the few Ford vehicles still using the DG508 ignition coils in 2006. As these parts age, they tend to fail within a short period of time from one another. Many E150 owners learn pretty quickly that these ignition coils are very expensive at their local auto parts store and dealership. Many places can charge $50 for aftermarket coils all the way up to $100. These are simply just big markups as these parts are in demand. We have come up with a way to offer these parts at a much lower price by purchasing these wholesale and selling them direct to our customers. If the ignition coils in your 2006 E150 are around the 7 year old mark, and one fails, then it's best to replace them all. If the coil packs are original, then you should definitely replace all 8. We offer a lifetime warranty on the ignition coils we sell, and this warranty also covers the shipping back and fourth if you need to use it. We also make sure our suppliers are keep the quality high on our coil packs.

2006 Ford E150 Ignition Coil Replacement Cost

You can get all 8 ignition coils replaced for under $100 if you have basic tools. You need a 7mm socket and a few different length extensions. This extension can be done by anybody with basic mechanical knowledge. The back coils seem very difficult to get to, but you can gain access to them by removing the inside engine service cover. Otherwise, it'd be almost impossible to do a simple tune up! If you have a misfire, but you are not sure what is causing your 2006 E150 to misfire, then you can simply do a check engine light scan with an OBDII scanner. Many people who service their vehicles do not own one of these, and they are so low in price, there is no excuse for anybody to not own one of these. You can find an OBDII scanner for your 2006 Ford E150 for under $10 on many different online websites. Once you plug your OBDII scanner into your 2006 Ford E150 port, it will give you a code. If you get a code from P0301, through P0308, then you certainly have a misfire. The next thing you need to do is finding out what's causing it. Normally the ignition coils are the main reason for the 2006 Ford E150 misfiring, but don't jump the gun just yet. You could have another bad sensor, a bad fuel injector, a wiring issue, or a worn our or cracked spark plug. To find out if it is indeed the ignition coil, swap the coil from the misfiring cylinder over to another cylinder. If the misfire code follows the ignition coil, then you know for sure you have a bad ignition coil in your E150 van. We recommend resetting the PCM in your 2006 Ford E150 van as well to give it enough time to identify the correct misfiring cylinder. If you scan it too soon, it may show the same cylinder.
