The listing you are viewing is for a complete set of 4 Araparts brand coils. If your ignition coils are several years old, it is recommended to replace all at the same time for improved performance. New coils are a major factor when it comes to restoring vehicle performance, and gas mileage. We are able to get our prices so low by purchasing several hundred, and even several thousand coils at a time, when your local auto parts store may only purchase 4-10. We are not a drop shipper. We have a physical location in Northern California. Internal winding material: Copper Boot: Silicone

An ignition coil (also referred to as coil pack, coil on plug/COP, coil over plug)  is a crucial part of your ignition system. Ignition coil is a miniature power transformer, which converts the 12v in your vehicle electrical system into tens of thousands of volts. This will send the voltage to the spark plug, and ignite the fuel. Ignition coils wear out over time. Over the years, high and low temperatures, humidity, and even bad grounds and electrical problems can cause ignition coils to fail, or not perform at full capacity. This can cause a misfire, also referred to as hiccups or surging. Because the ignition coils wear in the same environment, it is usually best to replace old ignition coils all at the same time, and save money or time on labor. Other causes are washing the engine bay and rain. The 2001-2005 Honda Civic 1.7L ignition coil is a commonly replaced item in most of the Civics. This includes the DX, LX, EX, and VP versions.

The ignition coils in these Civics are easy to change. Visit our "how to" articles and videos" section to see the video! When diagnosing misfires on these Civics, you just plug in an OBDII scanner into the OBDII port (under the dashboard by driver's right leg), you will see codes. P0301 is cylinder 1 for example. That is the closest cylinder to the timing belt, or the driver's side of your 01-05 Civic 1.7L. If it is giving a P0300 (random misfire), don't worry! Hondas tend to throw random misfire codes instead of pinpointing the actual misfire. The easy way to pinpoint this is to swap one coil out at a time until the issue goes away. Swapping coils is very easy! Before you spend money on paying a mechanic to do a 5 minute job, see our How-to video Honda/Acura section on how to remove the coils in your exact model Civic (applies to 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, Civic DX, EX, LX and VP models).

Checking vehicle grounds, wiring, and other components such as the vehicle computer (also referred to as the PCM, ECU, or ECM) can also prevent repeated failure of ignition coils and save hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in repairs.

Why are your parts so cheap?

What makes us very different from your local auto parts store and dealership is volume. We are a small company, but whatever item we carry, we carry hundreds, or even thousands of. This allows us to get that same quality auto part as your local aftermarket auto part store, but at a fraction of their prices.

Security / Is this real?

This is a very common FAQ. Araparts.com is without a question the small business in the industry, but we are linked up to the best suppliers that manufacture our products for us. We are an accredited business with the BBB, and ALL orders are secured VIA comodo.
