2002 Nissan Altima Ignition Coil

2002 Nissan Altima Ignition Coil Replacement

The Ignition Coils in the 2002 Nissan Altima are a commonly replaced item. Both engines used have the same type of ignition coil setup. The 2.5L Altima has 4 individual ignition coil on plugs, and the 3.5L V6 has 6. There are many factors in both the 2.5 4 Cylinder and 3.5L V6 Nissan Altima that can cause the ignition coils to go bad. If they are old, and one fails, it is time to just change all of them out, and the rest won't be too far behind. Another common cause of failed ignition coils in this year Altima is a bad main ground cable. Where it connects to the transmission, it can break causing all sorts of electrical problems, but the ignition coils seem to be the first to get fried when that ground breaks. These coils can cost from $50 to $100 or more at the local auto parts dealer. We have quality aftermarket ignition coils for much less.

Cost To Replace 2002 Nissan Altima Ignition Coils

These can run from $60 all the way up to $120 each at different local stores. Plus at least one hour of labor for each model, this job can cost upwards of $500. It doesn't have to cost this much however. We have the entire set of 4 and 6 for your 2002 Nissan Altima for the price of one local coil (in some cases). We don't do this by skimping on the quality. Instead, we order a large amount of these, usually around $500 or more to get the special pricing. This allows us to bring the same or better quality product for a whole lot less. On top of this, we give as much advice as we can to help you diagnose the problem, and replace the ignition coils. This can save you another several hundred dollars on diagnostic fees and labor. We recommend getting ahold of an OBDII scanner. This will allow you to scan your check engine light to find out why it's on. Misfire codes range from P0301 through P0306.  The last number represents the cylinder location of the misfire. The 2.5L Altima ignition coil packs are very easy to change as they sit right on top of the engine bay. All you need is a Torx driver to remove the bolts holding down the plastic engine cover. The 3.5L V6 Altima has three ignition coils in the front which are easy to replace. The three rear ignition coils are underneath the intake manifold/plenum. They may seem extremely difficult as many people are terrified at the idea of removing the intake manifold, but remember that this intake manifold was designed in a way to be easily removed for service. All of the bolts holding it down are 10mm and 12mm. You can check out our how-to article/guide on what tools you will needs and how to do this. This can be done without much problem for anyone who has basic mechanical experience.
