Ignition Coils for Mercedes C230

If your Mercedes C230 has a misfire, it may be in need of an ignition coil replacement. The C230 uses 6 individual ignition coils. One per spark plug. These are the coil on plug type that sit right over the spark plugs. If one of these ignition coils fails, and they are around the 7 year old mark, it's best to just replace all 6. It is very common for old ignition coils to fails within a short period of time from each other. We understand that these ignition coils are expensive, and we are here to solve this. We have the entire set of 6 coils for your Mercedes Benz C230 at a price that local stores and dealers simply cannot match. Common error codes for a misfire are P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and P0306. Cylinder 1 is closest towards the front of the engine and cylinder number 6 is closest towards the rear.

Symptoms of a Misfire in Your C230

If your engine is misfiring, you may notice that the engine feels shaky when at idle. You may also notice that the engine will sputter when trying to accelerate (putting the engine under a load). These are all symptoms of a potentially bad ignition coil. The last and most obvious sign is a check engine light with a misfire code (see paragraph above for the usual OBDII misfire codes). If you want to be sure if you have a bad ignition coil, an easy way to do this is to scan the check engine light to find out which cylinder is misfiring. Then swap the coil on the misfiring cylinder to another cylinder. Reset the computer with the scanner (or by unplugging the battery for 1 minute - see owner's manual before doing this) then drive your C230 until the check engine light comes back on. When it come back on, re-scan. If the misfire code follows the ignition coil, then you definitely have a bad ignition coil. If the misfire remains on the same cylinder, then there is another issue.

Buy an OBDII scanner for your Benz

OBDII scanners are cheap, and you will never regret buying one. If you don't own an OBDII scanner, we highly recommend purchasing one, even if you know very little about repairing cars. The reason why is because they are very inexpensive (under $10 online) and simply arming yourself with knowledge before walking into the shop is priceless. Even the simplest things like accidentally leaving the gas cap open can save you a trip to the dealer.

If you are still unsure of which ignition coils are right for your vehicle, you can always reach out to us by phone or email and we will be happy to help you find the correct ignition coils for your Mercedes Benz C230.
