The Lexus GX470 uses a 4.7L V8 (hence the name "470"). This Lexus uses 8 individual ignition coils. If they are old, and one fails, it is likely the others may follow. A misfire in your GX470 will turn on a check engine light, and cause the engine to run rough. You may feel a constant misfire, or you may only feel an occasional misfire when you put the engine under a heavy load (aka acceleration, using your GX470 to tow, etc). Common misfire codes would be P0300 P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, and P0308. These code indicate there is a misfire, and the last number represents the cylinder number (P0301 = cylinder 1, and P0300 = Random). Replacing all 8 at the same time can save time and money.
