Ignition Coils for 2006 F150

Igntion Coil for 2006 F150 4.6L V8 DG508Igntion Coil for 2006 F150 5.4L V8 DG511

The 2006 F150 uses 2 different kinds of ignition coils. If your 2006 F150 has the 4.6L V8, it needs the DG508 coils (angled rubber boot), and if has the 5.4L V8, it will need the DG511 coils (straight rubber boot).  There are 8 individual ignition coils used in the F150. While there are many benefits to using individual ignition coils, cost seems to be a downside. The local auto parts store usuall has these for $40-$70 or more. To make it worse, when the coils are old, and one fails, it's best to replace all 8 at once. Spending $400 or more on parts alone is just not practical or even reasonable. We have the entire set of 8 for an incredible price. All we need to know is which V8 engine was used in your F150.

Our low prices

A frequently asked question is "why are your prices so low?". We are able to get our prices much lower than what you see at the local store by purchasing several hundred to several thousand at a time, and selling directly to our customers online, and at our warehouse in Northern California. We get the same exact quality parts, but we sell direct to our customers for much less than what the local store can offer. So best believe the quality is great. We even back them with a lifetime warranty, good for as long as you own your 2006 F150.

Diagnosing a bad coil in a 2006 F150

If you have a misfire and a check engine light, it's probably an ignition coil, considering how common this issue is with the F150. To make sure, there are a few things you can do. First off, you need an OBDII scanner. If you don't own an ODBII scanner, you can purchase them at many online retailers for under $30. This is the best tool you will ever own when it comes to repairing all of your vehicles. Plug the OBDII scanner into the port under the steering column. Make sure the ignition is in the "ON" position, but the engine is off. If you have a misfire code such as P0300 (random) P0301 (Cyl #1), P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, or P0308 (Cyl #8), then you have a misfire. The best way to find out if the coil is causing it is to swap the coil from the misfiring cylinder with a coil from a non misfiring cylinder and clear the check engine light with your scanner, or by disconnecting the battery for 2 minutes. Start the engine, and drive your F150 until the check engine light comes back on. Whe nthe check engine light comes back on, re-scan for OBDII codes. If the misfire code is now on the cylinder you moved the bad coil to, you will know for sure that the coil is bad. If the misfire doesn't move, then there could be another issue.

If you own the 5.4L 2006 F150, be careful when removing the spark plugs as they are known to break off. Do this job with the engine warm, and if you have the time, spray penetration oil in the cylinders as well before removing the spark plugs. Turn the spark plug a little bit to allow the oil to move a little further down and loosen up the bond betweeen the spark plug and the head.

We are happy to help you find the right ignition coils for your 2006 F150. Let us know which engine you have and our website will guide you to the right set of ignition coils
