Ignition Coils for your Ford Expedition

The first generation Expedition launched in 1997. Two different V8 engines were offered, a 4.6L V8 and a 5.4L V8. The first generation 97-99 4.6L V8 models used coil pack and spark plug wire set up until the year 2000 when it was switched the the individual coil on plug setup. The 5.4L Trition V8 Expedition used the coil on plug assembly as soon as it was released. The coil on plug assembly (still referred to as "coil packs" by many) is a proven reliable setup. The ignition coils in the Expedition wear out over time causing hiccups and misfires. Most owners tend to notice misfires more under load (towing, or going uphill). When the ignition coils are old, it is recommended to replace all 8 if one goes bad. This is because they have the same lifespan, and are manufactured at the same time. Finding a misfire in your Expedition is as simple as plugging in an OBDII scanner into the OBDII port under the dashboard. For people who don't have an OBDII scanner, an auto store may offer a free scan. If there is a misfire, but no check engine light, the computer will still record the misfire, and there will still be a way to find it. We have this info in our how-to section.

Misfires are a common problem with the Expedition

The coils used in the Expedition were a very frequently replaced part. If you owned an Expedition, you probably had a bad ignition coil at some point. This would be no big deal if it weren't for the extremely high dealership prices. We've heard of people that paid $80 and over $90 for a single ignition coil. This is way more than they should cost. Our high quality lifetime warranty aftermarket coils are built to the same standard as the Motorcraft DG508 coil, and we can blow any local auto parts store prices out of the water. We understand everybody doesn't have upwards of $1,000 just to change the ignition coils. Not only is our goal to save you money on the parts themselves, but to help you ave money on labor. If you have any basic mechanic experience, our how-to guides can help you diagnose and get your Expedition back up and running without emptying your pockets.  We even have a video to help you pinpoint a misfire even if there is no check engine light. Yes, it's possible to do this with an Expedition.

We have the ignition coils available for the Expedition at a significant discount over the other retailers. They carry a limited lifetime warranty, and are built to the same specifications are the original equipment coils are. Not to mention, we can smash competitors prices, while offering the same quality product. Select the year and engine size of your Expedition to see what the buzz is all about. If you are still unsure about vehicle fitment, you can always call us at (916) 585-6835 and we would be happy to guide you to the right part for your Expedition, at the right price.
