2010 Ford E-150 Ignition Coil On Plug

2010 Ford E-150 Ignition Coil Packs

The 2010 Ford E-150 has 8 individual coil on plugs. The part number for them is DG508. When it comes to saving money on the replacement of these, you've come to the right place. We buy these in large bulk so we are able to cut out the middle man and save you money. We specialize in saving you money on this repair job. While we only sell the parts, we have some really cool diagnostic information here to help you to also save money on the diagnostic, and even repair job tips. We want to get your 2010 Ford E-150 van back on the road without spending a ton of money. We offer a lifetime warranty on the Araparts DG508 coil packs, which is good for as long as you own for 2010 Ford E-150. If one of the coil packs fails, and the rest are original, it's best to replace all 8. As these age, they tend to fail within a short period of time from each other. There are also other reasons coils can fail such as a spark plug gap too large, a spark plug blow out, or a bad PCM. If you live in a region that is humid, you may also experience a bad coil sooner than someone who lives in a dry region. Water and humidity are the enemies of these ignition coil packs.

2010 Ford E-150 Ignition Coil Failure

If you have a bad ignition coil in your 2010 Ford E-150, there will be a number of symptoms. You will notice that your van will misfire while the engine is under a load. Often times, it feels smooth while cruising too. This is sometimes accompanied by a check engine light, but not always. If your check engine light is on, that is a good thing, because you will now be able to identify the problem with any basic OBDII scanner (under $10 online). If you manage to be the unlucky one who is dealing with a misfire, but no check engine light, hang in there. There is a way to find these misfires in your 2010 Ford E-150. Start with getting yourself an OBDII scanner with Mode 6. These start at around $50, and they will surely pay for themselves compared to a shop diagnosing your E van. Plug your Mode 6 Scanner in and follow the prompts. Once you are in the menu, go to non continuous monitors (also called diagnostic monitors too- not all scanners say the same thing). You want to get to the screen where you can select the test ID. This will be in a hexadecimal language, so it will have characters like $81l, etc. For the 2010 model year Ford E-150, select test ID $81. From here, you will be able to view the number of times the PCM detected a misfire on each cylinder. They may be labeled something like "component 1" and "value count", etc but the numbers will be the cylinder numbers. From here you can diagnose further (swapping coil and rescan method) to find out if the ignition coils are actually your issue. This can save you thousands of dollars rather than taking your 2010 Ford E-150 to the mechanic.
