Crown Victoria

If your Crown Victoria is misfiring, chances are it may be a bad ignition coil. Is it very common to find a bad ignition coil in the Crown Victoria. What's even more surprising is that when one goes bad, and the rest are original, or 7-10 years old, the other coils tend to go bad not long after the first ignition coil failure. The local auto part stores have these ignition coils priced very high. We have seen coils ranging from $35 to $90, and that is for each one! We have the entire set of 8 for unbeatable prices. Not to mention, they have a lifetime warranty, which is good for as long as you own your Crown Vic. These will also fit the Police interceptor Crown Victorias as well.

DG508 Ignition Coil For Crown Victoria

Ignition Coils For Your Crown Victoria

The Crown Victoria uses the DG508 ignition coil. This coil has a very slight angle on the rubber boot. In 1998, The Crown Victoria began to use the independent ignition coils. These are also referred to as "coil packs", but the proper term is ignition coil, "coil on plug" or "COP". This was a big benefit for Ford, because it allowed for better control of the ignition system, allowing for better gas mileage, better emissions, and better overall performance. Only downside is when one coils fails, all 8 must be replaced (if they are over 7 years old) and this can be quite pricey. The 8 individual ignition coils in the Crown Victoria wear at the same time, in the same environment. When one goes bad, it is generally recommended to replace all 8. Especially if the coils are several years old. Purchasing the entire set of 8 will also help you save money on the bundle of ignition coils. This is especially true for both local and online. We sell the ignition coils for the Crown Victoria at prices that are simply unmatched at the local auto parts stores and dealers.

Police Interceptor Coils the Same as Regular Crown Victoria?

Yes. A very frequently asked question we get asked is if the coils for the police interceptor are the same as the coils for the regular Crown Victoria. The answer is simply yes. The Crown Victoria uses the 4.6L V8 which uses the DG508 ignition coils. If you have a misfire, you may notice the engine skipping here and there. If a coil is completely dead, diagnosis will be very easy. It is much more difficult to find a bad coil when it is only firing occasionally. This is where a Mode 6 Scanner comes in. These tools start at around $50 online. Don't get discouraged yet. The cost to find this type of misfire at a shop is MUCH more than the cost of the Mode 6 capable scanner. As a DIY website, we look for as many ways to help you save money.
