Chevrolet Avalanche Ignition Coil Replacement

The Avalanche has 8 independent ignition coils with spark plug wires that carry the energy to the spark plug. The ignition coils sit about 8 inches or so above the spark plugs. When one of the original/old ignition coils fails, it is likely the others may follow. We have full sets of ignition coils for your Chevrolet Avalanche. Whether it has the 4.8L V8, 5.3L V8, or 6.0L V8, we have the coils you're looking for. The Avalanche truck comes with 2 different styles of ignition coils. One has a heat sink and a round cylinder body (Delphi) and the other one does not have a heat sink, and more of a square, boxy body (Melco). We will help you find out how to tell which kind of coil your Avalanche uses, and yes. We have both! It is very easy to order the wrong ignition coils for your Avalanche, so pay attention carefully. This is an extremely commonly made mistake when people order the ignition coils for their Chevy Avalanche. We don't go by VIN numbers anymore because many of these trucks have been around for a long time now, and instead of junking them, many owners replace engines, and keep them on the road. This is fairly common with trucks, and what happens is that the vin number no longer identifies the exact engine that the vehicle came with. We made a very detailed video on how to determine which type of ignition coil your Avalanche uses.

Cost To Replace Ignition Coils in Your Chevrolet Avalanche

This price is usually quite high, but don't worry too much. This can come down significantly as the coils are very easy to change on the Avalanche. The typical cost to replace all 8 ignition coils is around $500. This is with diagnostic, labor, and parts included. Given that many auto parts stores can charge $50 to $100 for each ignition coil, this job can easily end up at over $500-800 with labor. We have the entire set of 8 coils for not much more than the price of one coil, and a how-to guide on how to change these. The ignition coils sit right on the top area of the engine, allowing for easy access to replace them. Each coil pack is held in by two 10mm bolts. Simply unplug the harness connector, the spark plug wire, and remove the two 10mm bolts, and the coil will come right off. A common question we get is "can I swap the square with round coils?". The short answer is "no". If you swap the bracket that holds the coils, then the square and round type of coils are easily interchanged, but honestly this is more money and more work than necessary. We highly recommend that you watch our video on how to determining which coils your Avalanche uses to quickly learn which type is right for your Avalanche.

Not to mention, our ignition coils are significantly discounted over the price you would pay at the local store. Select the year, and engine of your Avalanche to find the ignition coils you need today!
